Slavoj Zizek (via blackestdespondency)
So even though I know the COOL SMART PEOPLE are all like “Zizek’s really basic,” or w/e, it’s probably valuable for people to watch The Pervert’s Guide to Ideology (which is available on Netflix), not only because it starts with an intense examination of They Live, but because it’s an encapsulation of why going to college is good for your brain (despite the traumatic effect on your wallet). If you went to college—or if you actually thought about this shit when you did go to college instead of dismissing humanities as bullshit and computer engineering/business as the one true path—and someone, like, told you that people have been thinking these things for a really long time, then maybe you wouldn’t brought up this “Red Pill,” stuff like you’re saying “hey, I discovered this thing nobody’s ever talked about before: ideology! And now I’m outside of it and I’m way smarter than you and also, for some reason, fuck women? (…plus I saw the Matrix and wasn’t that a really cool movie??)”
Anyway people would probably be less dicks if they took one Philosophy class in college. Maybe this could’ve all been avoided.
